About this event
Abstract:
Wearable biomedical technologies are transforming healthcare by enabling continuous, personalized monitoring beyond clinical settings. This talk explores design considerations spanning ultra-low power integrated circuits, biomedical system-on-chip architectures, and intelligent sensing. It then presents applications including smart footwear for plantar pressure and gait analysis and machine-learning based fall detection and prediction, concluding with emerging opportunities in reliable, energy-efficient wearable biomedical systems.
Speaker: Dr. Wala Saadeh
Dr. Wala Saadeh is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Western Washington University, USA. She received her M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology, Abu Dhabi, UAE. Previously, she was an Assistant Professor at LUMS, Pakistan, and gained industry experience at GlobalFoundries, Germany. Her research focuses on ultra-low power integrated circuits, energy-efficient biomedical SoC design, and intelligent wearable healthcare systems. A Senior Member of IEEE, she is an Associate Editor of IEEE TBioCAS and received the ISCAS 2015 Best Paper Award (BioCAS Track).
